Chakri Naruebet Offshore Patrol Helicopter Carrier, Thailand
During a visit to Patthaya, the former Thai Ambassador for Spain asked the Navy High Command to show me the Chakri Naruebet, Thailand's unique aircraft carrier. IT WAS AMAZING!! I was welcomed by the Captain who offered me a cap, introduced me to his team and showed me the boat... event the command's post!! REALLY COOL!!!
When watching a presentation video of the boat, I sat at the same chair as King Juan Carlos I of Spain when he visited the boat few years ago. What a honour!
At the end of the visit, they showed me some pictures taken during the rescue after the 2004 tsunami... horrible... so many bodies floating on the surface of the sea... The crew was so morally affected that at the end of their mission, they were given 3 weeks to party and chill-out in Singapore!

Here is some information about that boat:
The Offshore Patrol Helicopter Carrier, HTMS Chakri Naruebet, was constructed for the Royal Thai Navy by Spanish shipbuilders Izar (formerly Bazan and nowadays called Navantia).
Under a contract signed in July 1992, the Chakri Naruebet was constructed at Navantia's El Ferrol yard in Spain and commissioned in March 1997. With a design similar to that of the Spanish carrier Principe de Asturias, it is fitted with a 12° ski jump to enable the use of Harrier-style aircraft. The carrier's main role is EEZ surveillance and protection and search and rescue, but it could also be used for flagship command and control, air support for the Thai surface fleet or disaster relief. It is based in the Gulf of Thailand.
