Amazing Thailand! Chiang Mai
While in Chiang Mai, we went to visit the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 International Horticultural Exposition for His Majesty the King.
Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 was a huge horticultural show taking place in northern Thailand as part of the massive double celebrations for the King of Thailand's Birthday and his 60th year on the throne which makes him the world's longest-reigning monarch.
Between 1 November 2006 and 31 January 2007, an almost 200-acre site in the city of Chiang Mai, known as the 'Rose of the north' was in constant bloom. Over 2,200 species of tropical plants and flowers were on show as the Thai government host this horticultural extravaganza in honour of the King, himself a keen botanist.
There were a total of 2.5 million plants... Can you imagine the number of gardeners needed to take care of such a colossal garden!?? The cost of such manpower can only be assumed in Thailand... or maybe in France??? Ahahaha!
Flowers and more flowers... Orchids, thousands of orchids!!

This temple was the main emblem of the park.

A monk visiting the expo.

This guy was pouring some tea... BRILLIANT! and... AROI (delicious in Thai)!
